Student Learning Outcomes

Course Name: Basic Math Skills Review
Course Number: LERN 48
Course Objectives:
  • N/A
  • Student will be able to select strategies for solving a variety of word problems.
  • Student will be able to demonstrate proper use of math terms/vocabulary.
  • Student will be able to solve multi-step problems using more than one approach.
  • Student will be able to apply strategies for learning math.
  • LERN students completing the one semester linked LERN 48/49 sequence will be able to complete the courses with greater success than un-linked, semester long LERN 48/49 classes.
  • LAC students will increase their confidence level as students.
  • Using a 3-point rubric constructed by LAC Math Faculty, more than 60% of the students will earn an average score of at least 2. Also, less than 20% will score 1 in any of the three categories.
  • Students will be able to apply strategies for learning math.
  • Student will be able to solve problems of basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division for whole numbers, exponents, order of operations, factoring, multiples, prime numbers, prime factoring)
